a day in the life...

the shepster (known affectionately around here as "bud"), can hold his own against that little whirlwind jeni...not bad for an old guy! he and jeni dance in the shadows, and watch the people on the road through the fence. he is usually such a happy boy, just look at that smile! but every once in a while, he gets this wistful look on this face, and this far away look in his eyes, and you can tell he's thinkin' about other times, other places. he is such a dear boy!

no other way to describe him...he's just a "dear soul"...

shep knows all his commands...sit, down, shake, stay, heel, go lay down, take it nice, and has very obviously been someone's house dog. he loves his bone filled with peanut butter, and loves to play with his new pack-mate jeni. it does cause one to pause and wonder how someone could abandon a dog like this. we know his former owner was a woman, and we see him still looking for her with every trip outdoors and every car that passes. he is a very good boy and will have a home here at shangri-la for as long as he needs it. we can tell though, that if he had a say in things, he'd probably like to have a person all to himself.
shep comes home to michigan snow!

since this boy hasn't been out of the kennel in a while, we made him his own paths to go out and "take care of business". he has some "issues" with his back legs, but gets around remarkably well nevertheless. it seems he made the most of his stay at the "spa", has put on weight, and is in much improved coat and general condition already. we are ever so grateful, and our thanks go out to, our friends pat and harold at hy hopes farm, we could not have done it without you!
